How to Regulate the Temperature in Your Home to Prevent Mold

By January 24, 2020No Comments

Mold prevention doesn’t have to involve expensive renovations. You can take simple steps to stop growth in its tracks and enjoy a dry and cozy home.

Choose the Right A/C

A high functioning A/C is integral for eliminating the moisture that makes the pesky black spores blossom. Make sure your unit is the right size for your home. One that’s too small runs constantly without lowering temperatures. One that’s too big constantly starts and stops, which is inefficient.

Monitor Humidity

Mold flourishes in environments that have 70% or greater humidity. Buy an indoor monitor and make sure your home has between 35 and 50 percent humidity at all times.

Evaluate the Performance of Your A/C

If humidity is greater than 60% you should take a look at your unit. Is it at the proper temperature? Are the coils clean? Perhaps the condensate drain pipe is blocked. Call a professional if you notice a problem.
